Does anyone believe in the existence of luck?

I sometimes think it is destiny and we call it luck whether it’s good luck or bad luck. I think it’s easier in our minds to believe in luck or call it luck than to think our lives are mapped out for us.
Funny of you to bring this up as I’ve thought about it on and off the past few weeks.
Do I make plans or is it that whatever will be will be. If I make plans and my life goes in a different direction is it luck or fate. If I make no plans will everything work out fine anyway?
I sometimes try not to think and one thing I tell myself that stops this thinking is that … I will live til I die and nothing will change that! and as long as I’m alive I can handle anything.
Thank G-d we don’t have to live our whole life in one 24 hour segment.
Some people just seem destined to be very successful no matter what they do and others try and work all their lives and try to change their luck and just can’t change their luck.
If each of these people just sat and waited would the out come of their lives have turned out the same?
Does our actions influence the out come of our lives or does our destiny inspire a deeply hidden energy force within us that motivates us to choose the correct action for the events to come?

A heart defibulator works by sending electrical impulses into the muscles of the heart so that the muscles contract and keep blood pumping throughout the body. Usually when someone has a defibulator, their heart cannot function properly on its own. If someone with a defibulator goes into cardiac arrest, it is very possible that the defibulator has stopped working properly, or at all. Defibulators are known to degrade with age.

The purpose of CPR is not necessarily to get the heart pumping on its own again, but rather to sustain a minimal amount of oxygen diffusion into the blood and to keep small amounts of blood pumping into the brain necessary to prevent tissue damage and death (until proper medical attention arrives, of course). An AED (Automated External Defibulator) on the other hand works by sending high currents of elecricity through the heart to get it pumping by itself again.

An AED shock to the internal defibulator could cause further misfunction, and I would not recommend it. CPR is rarely a bad idea though, and would definately recommend using it until the situation can be handled by medical professionals. Some people are intimidated by CPR, though, as it is pretty up close and personal. Recent studies have shown that chest compressions may do little less good or just as much good as standard CPR procedures (which include mouth-to-mouth rescue breathing), which means that even the most clean-freak individual should be able to participate in saving a life.

To tell the truth, maybe you should consider listening to the people who tells you not to do it. I have been dancing for 12 years, and has also taught many classes, and I can tell you that it is not very likely that you’d benefit from those instructional DVDs. Mayhaps you might learn to recognize certain positions, and certain exercises, but without a teacher beside to guide you, you won’t know whether you’re even standing correctly!

Posture is a very important thing, and that is one thing you can’t learn from looking at the dancers in the videos. Often we do not know what we are doing wrong until people point out our mistakes. Also, to get the right technique, you must also know how to use the right muscles. I have seen students, even with the guide of the teachers, till now still do not truly understand the use of the different muscles in their thighs, and due to the misuse of muscles, they are developing huge thighs, with no improvement to their technique.

Ballet classes are very affordable nowadays, maybe you should consider taking them, instead of learning from instructional CDs/DVDs. And it is always better to learn in a classful of students, there is always the competitive spirit which makes you strive to be better, and also the opportunity to discuss among yourselves the exercises to further improve.

Could someone please explain how to bubble sort a linked list on c++???

An explanation (instead of code).

the canonical example of a linked list:
head -> node1 -> node2 -> node3 -> NULL

Starting at the first node of the list, look at the current node and the next node. If the two nodes are not in the correct order, swap them. Continue this until you reach the end. The end node will have NULL as the next pointer.

If you swapped any items at all, go back to the beginning of the list and do it all again.

Swapping can involve two different methods. If the stored item is small, such as a single integer, it’s easier to just swap the integer value;s.

temp = node1.value;
node1.value = node2.value;
node2.value = temp;

If the item is larger, it’s faster to change the pointers instead of the values.

In the original example, if we want to swap node1 and node2, we need to change the head pointer, node1.next and node2.next.

before swap
head == &node1;
node1.next = &node2;
node2.next = &node3;

I’ll let you figure out the actual swap code

after swap
head == &node2;
node1.next = &node3;
node2.next = &node1;

Now the list looks like this:
head -> node2 -> node1 -> node3 -> NULL

conundrum!?

the above answer is correct. In logic, and in the physical world, there is no such thing as the unstoppable force, nor the immovable object.
mass cannot be infinite, except at the speed of light, but the amount of inertia slowing the approach to the speed of light would make that impossible…so cannot have infinite mass, and hence no infinite(unstoppable)force.

Immovable also implicitly implies the ability of that object to exert and infinite(unstoppable force) to resist any other force.

Basically the above can be summarised as two unstoppable forces acting on eachother, which is impossible because we all know that their has to be a resultant, or they balance eachother out for equilibrium.
Unstoppable does not equal Unstoppable, and do not balance.

Something has to give…

Just about any of the theme parks. Don’t think that because he is 14 that he won’t like Mickey Mouse! At that age there are still plenty of rides and shows that he would probably like. MGM park has the Rock N Roller coaster (featuring the rock group Aerosmith) and the Hollywood Tower of Terror, also there is Star Tours- a simulation of being in Star Wars.

Epcot has some great rides too. Mission to Mars is really cool, and so is Test Track- where you get to be in a “car” that is being put through durability and performance tests.

You might also consider taking one of the behind the scenes tours. These are awesome. Most are walking tours, but you get to see so much and learn some of the “Disney secrets”.

If he is into the superhero stuff, (Spiderman, X-Men, etc) then Universal is the place to go. There are actually 2 parks here plus City Walk. Both are fun parks with lots of great rides- I love the HULK roller coaster!

Just have a great time. Memories are the most treasured gifts!

does anybody know where there are any breeders that sell little chihuahuas?

You should look at Petfinder first, lots of Chihuahuas end up in shelters, especially down south and in California. http://www.petfinder.com/ If you don’t find one there, then you should look at rescues; http://www.chihuahua-rescue.com/ http://www.chihuahuarescue.com/ http://www.chihuahuarescueusa.org/ http://www.crar.org/ And lastly you could look at breeders, good ones that are member of the breed clubs and are recommended. http://www.chihuahuaclubofamerica.com/ (just Google Chihuahua club and you will get […]

(just Google Chihuahua club and you will get a lists of the local breed clubs)

But never, ever go and buy a puppy from a pet shop, you pay too much for one, and often end up with a sick dog, or a mutt instead of a purebred. Also all of the puppies come from puppy mills, very bad place, or backyard breeders, even worst.

Evan is a much better choice. Matt will probably drag you into the drug ring and a violent behavior is never good to be around. Maybe Evan looks up to his sister and admires her… isnt there a saying about guys marrying women that are like their moms? so it wouldnt be too much of a stretch to change that to sister

i also feel that Evan really likes you more than Matt… guys can be willing to flirt with any girl if they want to get into their pants. and if your body likes him and you get tingles when he touches you, it’s not far off that you’d be having sex with him, and then if that’s all he wants, then he’s gone and tells everyone about it… just a possibility… stick with the shower *wink*
Evan blushes whenever he’s with you because he really likes you and doesnt know how to tell you cuz he’s shy. If matt gets jealous about you being with Evan, you can tell him the truth, you dont want to be with a violent drug user… this might put things into perspective for him
I know you’ll make the right choice

Going to San Francisco!?

* Clothes… bring layers. It never gets freezing, but it does get quite chilly, and changes depending on what neighborhood you’re in. It’s NOT “sunny California” as tourists often expect it to be.
* Land’s End is gorgeous… hiking trails in dense forest with coyotes, foxes, etc… as well as anise to snack on. If you hike down to the beach at low tide, there’s a tide pool with starfish, crabs, etc… As well as cliffs and bluffs with great views of the bay and ocean. Sutro Baths is also great. Ocean Beach, too. Fort Funston at the southern end of Ocean Beach is great, and has plenty of sandy hiking trails and fields of ice plant. Also has many cliffs and bluffs, and even hang-gliding. Golden Gate Park is also lovely… especially the Western half, past 19th Ave/the 1 crossover. The Presidio is also great… many hiking trails and forest. If you go out of the city, the Marin Headlands, Muir Beach, Muir Woods, and all the small beach towns north along 1 are wonderful.
* San Francisco’s very safe. The only areas I’d say to avoid are Bayview/Bernal Heights/Outer Mission/Mission past 23rd St. All are bordering each other and at the very southern end of the city, so you’ll never have to cross them to get anywhere else. And even the bad areas aren’t *that* bad (as compared to, say, the bad areas in New York or Chicago). Other neighborhoods, such as the Tenderloin, Potrero Hill, SOMA, etc… are very seedy and have tons of crack addicts crawling about, but they’re perfectly harmless and many are even very nice. The neighborhoods are “seedy”, but aren’t dangerous (they have very low violent crime rates). In fact, they’re also very popular with college students and families with young kids coz they’re relatively cheap. As long as you don’t do a stupid touristy thing like wear a fanny pack or count your money out in the open, you won’t have any problem whatsoever. And even if you DO… you still probably wouldn’t have a problem.
